Solidarités Jeunesses is a national non-governmental organisation, established in 1901 by French and German protestants. Seven regional delegations as well as individual members compose the national movement. The French Ministry of Youth and Sports recognizes Solidarités Jeunesses as a youth and community education organization. It organises voluntary work (workcamps, mid-term and long-term voluntary service) as well as projects with the people with less opportunities, training sessions and international solidarity projects. Furthermore the regional delegations are running several international hosting centres. Through these activities Solidarités Jeunesses aims to promote:
Volunteering open for everybody in local, national and international projects; with a special emphasis on the work with people with less opportunities;
Local and community development, taking into account each individual, different cultures, environment as well cultural heritage;
Bringing together different generations, cultures and countries, through practical and tangible actions that contribute to establishing lasting peace.
Solidarités Jeunesses is the French branch of Youth Action for Peace, a movement created after the First World War in order to reconcile people of different nationalities. Solidarités Jeunesses unites a number of local and regional associations who share the same aims and work together to form a national entity.
