Every summer Créneau organises several international workcamps in the departments of Allier and Loire.
Why?
The main goals:
“People understand each other better when they work together” (Jean BOURRIEAU): to use workcamp as a peace-building tool, taking advantage of its intercultural and interpersonal nature;
to support the development of local villages
First,
what is the workcamp?
A workcamp is a project where 10-15 people, representing different countries and cultures, live and work together for 2-3 weeks. Work is not only a free-of-charge service, it’s an exchange between volunteers and local people.
The fields of activities include “architectural heritage, environment, habitat rehabilitation and the renovation of social, educational and sports establishments. The programme is destined to young French and international volunteers, motivated to work and participate in intercultural activities.”

Créneau aims that workcamps gather people from various cultural and social backgrounds, as workcamps are open to all without any language, education or work experience requirements.
It also helps to acquire new social and technical skills, depending on the level of participation. Workcamp as a micro-society is a good environment for reflexion of oneself and others, where each participant can experience active citizenship and take responsibility.
