« Chantier
découverte » :
On regular basis the castle hosts groups of youngsters with educators for the period of 1-2 weeks in order to live the daily life of Créneau and meet international long-term volunteers.
A typical day consists of:
manual work;
discovery of the region or traditional handicrafts (basketry, baking bread, care for animals, gardening).
In the same time they participate in the collective life and do everyday tasks (cooking, washing-up, cleaning), just as everybody else living in Créneau.
Hosted groups:
CER (reinforced educational centre);
CEF (closed educational centre);
Prevention clubs;
ADSEA (association for protection of children and teenagers)
Training centres, etc.
Extract from the educator’s feedback:
“Stay in Créneau allows to pursue the work with young offenders and in the same time to take a break to regain a stable rhythm of life, which they usually lack at the age of 16-18.
The place itself is a break from the usual environment. They live punctual “life of castle”, leaving their cities and streets (which is a considerable contrast to the ancient farming site of Prureaux). […]
Collective life is different from regime in CER (number of residents, participation in daily tasks, meals with strangers…). For youngsters it is a new challenge, which supplements the educative work. By the presence of international volunteers, Créneau offers considerable intercultural learning.[…]”
